What Lies Beneath
What Lies Beneath
24” x 12” 3-Dimensional Oil
What Lies Beneath is a bold, layered reflection of personal growth and all the messy, winding steps it can take to get there. We all carry our stories—hurts, habits, things we’ve outgrown or are still working through. This painting holds that tension.
It began as a beach scene. Then it tried to become a lily pond, inspired by Monet. Neither felt quite right at the time, and both versions ended up finding new life in other pieces from my Memories collection. But if you look closely, hints of those past attempts still live beneath the surface—quiet reminders that nothing is wasted.
The bright colors on top are what finally felt true. They rise from all the layers beneath—proof that even in the middle of missteps, something vibrant can take shape. Sometimes healing looks like that. A little chaotic. A little uncertain. But full of possibility.
