“I’m a painter, but really I’m just someone who feels a lot—and this is how I get it out. Painting has become a kind of journaling for me, a way to reflect, heal, and move forward. Sometimes I talk with my hands more than my words, so color and texture just make sense. Kelly Steller Hrad is a contemporary abstract painter whose work captures the vibrancy of the human spirit through bold color, expressive line, and a dynamic range of mediums—from acrylics to three-dimensional oil and beyond. Her distinctive visual language explores the essence of life itself, offering a radiant dialogue of joy, peace, and energy on every canvas.
Kelly’s work has been exhibited widely, both regionally, nationally, and internationally. In Texas, she has shown in Richardson, Frisco, Lewisville, Rockwall, Texarkana, and Irving. Her art has also been featured in juried exhibitions across California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, New Mexico, and Virginia. In addition to solo shows, her work has been commissioned for prominent corporate installations, including Louis Vuitton in Legacy West (Plano, Texas) and the Lamborghini headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. She continues to create commissioned pieces for corporate spaces, retail environments, and private collections—extending the reach and resonance of her work in both public and personal settings.
For Kelly, art has always been a journey—and a way to find joy in the world. As a child, she developed a deep love for creativity—immersing herself in musicals, operas, and museum visits. But the most formative moments came during long road trips, where she would stare out the window, absorbing the vastness of prairies, canyons, and mountains. While others played games, Kelly watched the world roll by—those sweeping landscapes leaving an indelible mark on her artistic vision. These memories continue to inspire her, reminding her that beauty—and joy—is everywhere, waiting to be observed, appreciated, and celebrated.
Kelly’s belief in the power of art extends beyond the studio. She sees art as a vital thread in the fabric of community life, a universal language expressed not only through painting, but also through music, dance, sculpture, photography, and nature itself. To her, art invites reflection, sparks conversation, and fosters connection—not only with the work, but with those experiencing it alongside us. When we pause to truly engage with art, we connect with something larger than ourselves and rediscover moments of joy and meaning in the process.
