Memento is part of my Memories Series, which began as a way to repurpose leftover paint—scraps from previous paintings or the remnants left on my palette knife. What started as an experiment has evolved into a meaningful collection of stories. I always keep a canvas set aside for this series, and Memento took its time to unfold.

Originally, Memento was a different painting altogether. I struggled with the composition, unable to bring it to life as I envisioned. So, I took a giant palette knife to it, scraping away all the paint, starting fresh. What emerged is a reflection of the mistakes, regrets, and scars we all carry—those parts of us that we’re working through and transforming into something beautiful.

Hints of vibrant color peek through the swirling texture, offering a sense of hope and renewal—a reminder that joy can emerge from even the most difficult moments. Memento is a testament to the process of creating new memories, even from what feels like loss or failure. It’s about embracing the journey and the beauty that comes from rebuilding and moving forward.
