Summer Color

Zinnias are full of color and life, but the meaning of a Zinnia is friendship, endurance, daily remembrance, and goodness. We all need more of these things in our lives. My Zinnia’s were inspired by an exceptionally large one bloom painting I saw in Sausalito when I first started my art journey. I came across that original image recently and compared it to my evolution of these paintings. Rosee, Sunnie and Violet have taken just over a year to create - there are about fifteen layers of oil paint in the foliage and countless additional layers in the bloom itself. I lost track of the number of paint tubes I used on these beauties! They will be ready for delivery August 1, 2023. Time to plant some more seeds…

BREAK A LEG - Rover Dramaworks

Rover DramaWorks needed a different type of star for their production of Spirit Level at the Cox Playhouse in Downtown Plano. Two of my paintings were key players in the first scene of Spirit Level at Cox Playhouse in Downtown Plano. Not only did I have paintings in the production, but also filled the lobby with some of my work.

New Venue - Venture X Braniff Center Dallas, TX

Venture X- Braniff Center

What do you do with 70’ hallway? Fill it with art! I’ve partnered with artist Kristi Smithson to fill this space at Venture X - Braniff Center. Over the next year there will be an ever changing selection of our work on display in their beautiful mid-century work space. Venture X is housed in the former Braniff Airlines Terminal on the edge of Love Field. It is one of coolest co-working spaces in the Metroplex.

Colorful Mind Series

When I am lucky enough to be commissioned to create something for someone, the first question I ask is “what colors did you have in mind”?  Often people ask me how I come up with ideas for paintings the answer being “whatever colors are in my mind”. Sometimes when I am done painting a piece, I ask myself “what was on my mind”? Do you see where I am going here…a new series of smaller 3-Dimensional Oil and mixed media works.  These first 6 are maquettes created for a larger project which will include some different elements in the painting that I needed to sample on a smaller scale.  Once the maquette was photographed, the element was removed so I could create each finished piece.

Fresh Ideas is VAL's annual premier juried art exhibition and sale, which is housed in the beautiful 2,400 sq. ft. Lewisville Grand Theater Main Art Gallery. Organized in 1978, the Visual Art League began as a small group of members who sought to enhance the appreciation of artistic talent in Lewisville, Texas. These members met once each month in each other’s homes, in local businesses, and in the former Chamber of Commerce building in order to discuss their work, hear art professionals speak, and watch professional artists demonstrate techniques and artists’ materials.

Exhibition is juried by Teri Thoman Owner of Paper Arts, a Dallas Artisan Fine Print Studio.   Terri's work reflects the value she holds for the planet; her observations of atmosphere, earth, and water clearly express this passion.
