This painting is inspired by a book written about my 17th Century Grandfather - Georg Wilhem Steller who traveled from Europe with Dane Vitus Bearing. Grandpa Georg was the doctor on board this adventure and a naturalist who made many discoveries in the Alaskan wilderness on this voyage.
