Memento 24” x 12” 3-Dimensional Oil is part of my Memories Series. The Memories series started off as just a way to utilize all the paint I don't use, scrape off another painting or the paint that comes off the palette knife before dabbing into another color. They have evolved into a wonderful story. I always keep a canvas on hand just for this series - this one took a while. Memento was an entirely different painting - I just couldn’t get the composition the way I wanted it so out came the giant palette knife to scrape off all the paint. Memento is symbolic in that we all have mistakes, regrets and scars that we have or are working through - making beauty from the ashes. Hints of the vibrant colors peek through the swirls and the background - giving hope that through the opportunity is joy! Back to the studio to create new Memories.
